Two day Rajiv Gandhi mini olympics from May 17 in Mumbai

Mumbai, May 13 (UNI) To commemorate the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the Indian Youth Congress (sports cell) and Maharashtra Pradesh Congres Committee is organising two day 'Rajiv Gandhi Mini Olympics', from May 17 here at Andheri sports complex and other venues.

Annouoncing the programme, MPCC spokesman and organiser of the event Sanjay Nirupam said the opening ceremony will be held in presence of Indian Olympic Association President Suresh Kalmadi apart from sporting lumanaries like Kapil Dev, Dhanraj Pillay, bollywood stars Ameesha Patel and Kim Sharma.

The concluding ceremony will be attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Union Information and broadcasting minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi and others.

The mini olympic, could further become an annual event, Mr Nirupam said and added that several leading personalities, who had done immense contribution for the sports would also be felicitated on the occasion.

The sports events in the mini olympics include athletics, hocky, squash, kho-kho, swimming and other events.
