Transporters opposed to oil price hike
New Delhi, May 13: Transporters say they will oppose any fresh decision by the Centre to hike oil prices.
''This is a planned move ... to put the Ralways on the forefront while neglecting the road transport sector'', the All India Transporters Welfare Association Chairman O P Agarwal said in a statement, opposing the proposed increase in oil prices.
Sixty-five per cent of the taxes paid by transporters are towards petroleum products, he pointed out, arguing that the road transport industry was being ''pushed to the wall'' by the Government.
