RJD MP Subhash Yadav and relatives of an MLC to be arrested

Patna, May 13 (UNI) Arrest warrants have been issued against RJD MP Subhash Yadav and relatives of an MLC Azad Gandhi of the same party in a kidnapping case.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Magadh Range Arvind Pandey said today that Subhash Yadav and brothers-in-law of RJD MLC Azad Gandhi were involved in kidnapping of Atul Prakash in 2004. Atul was kidnapped while he was being brought to Bihar from Gujarat in police custody.

Mr Subhash Yadav is the brother-in-law of Railways Minister Lalu Prasad yadav.

Mr Pandey said the victim was kept in captivity at the residence of the then RJD minister Surendra Yadav at Gaya where he was allegedly tortured. The controversy arising over the incident led to his resignation.

Three policemen were suspended in this connection.

''Owing to mounting political pressure the accused were allowed to go scot free,'' Mr Pandey added.

The case was reopened following Patna High Court's directive to investigate the kidnapping cases afresh. ''During the investigation it appears that Subhash Yadav and brothers-in-law of the RJD MLC-- Pappu and Vinod Shankar Parasar--were involved in the case,'' he observed.
