Rapist shot at by militants

Imphal, May 13 (UNI) A man was shot at his leg by United National Liberation Front (UNLF) cadres for allegedly raping a nine- year-old girl earlier.

The 27-year-old man was produced before the media yesterday and later shot at for the alleged crime. He was recently released from jail. The man said he was from Asom and was a rickshaw puller in Manipur. He later confessed to the crime.

The UNLF warned that it will award capital punishment if such crime was repeated.
