Police nabs smugglers in army outfit

Kohima, May 13: Kohima police have arrested four persons, who were travelling in a fake army truck along with 4200 kgs of contraband Ganja and two dummy AK-47 Rifles at the Khuzama Check gate yesterday.

Kohima Superintendent of Police K Martin Pinyu told UNI that the truck was coming from Manipur and the smugglers posed as army personnel. When the police enquired about their respective army units and their identity cards, they refused, which compelled the police to search the truck.

At least 4200 kgs of Ganja worth nine lakhs was recovered.

Off the arrested, two perosns belonged to Madhya Pradesh and two from Senapati and Ukhrul districts in Manipur.

Police registered a case and investigation was on to apprehend the others involved in the racket, Mr Pinyu said.
