Srinagar, May 13: After closing a number of branches due to turmoil in early nineties, the Punjab National Bank (PNB) re-established itself with 67 branches operating in the valley with a working capital of Rs 24 crore.

Of this Rs six crore have been extended as loans, Zonal Manager of the bank for Jammu and Kashmir J S Jass said during the opening of a new branch at Batmaloo near here.

Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, who also holds the finance portfolio, inaugurated the branch. He impressed upon the banking industry to further improve its product range and service quality.

He said this would not only generate goodwill among its customers but also take their business to great heights.

Mr Beigh said in today's highly competitive market only bank or company, which has the highest customer satisfaction and product range to its credit, would grow.

Mr Beigh hoped that PNB would extend its facilities and products to the local customers with least formalities.
