Playgrounds ready in 210 villages

Bhopal, May 13: With the objective of promoting sports in rural areas, the Madhya Pradesh Government has prepared playgrounds in 210 big villages.

The government had identified a total of 381 villages, with population between 5,000 to 14,000, for construction of playgrounds.

It completed playground construction in 210 villages last year.

The Sports and Youth Welfare Department spent Rs 91.83 lakh on the construction. People had also contributed for the purpose.

Meanwhile, construction in 195 villages have been taken up this year and Rs 89.40 lakh was allotted to the districts for the purpose, an official release said here yesterday.

The process of appointing trainers in villages, where playgrounds have been constructed, was also in progress. 56 trainers have been appointed, so far .

Of the 210 villages where playgrounds had been constructed, 30 are in Gwalior division, 24 in Ujjain, 39 in Indore, 39 in Bhopal, 22 in Sagar, 31 in Jabalpur and 25 in Rewa division.

Of the 195 villages, where playgrounds are being constructed this year, 50 are in Gwalior division, 33 in Ujjain, 29 in Indore, two in Bhopal, 26 in Sagar, 13 in Jabalpur and 38 in Rewa division, the release added.
