Panchalingadarshan at T Narasipur
Mysore, May 13 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today sanctioned Rs 40 crore for the celebrations of the Panchalingadarshan, performed once in 12 years, at Tirumukkudal near T Narasipur in Mysore district scheduled to be held in November this year.
Speaking to mediapersons at Suttur village, he said it would be celebrated on the lines of the world famous Mahamastakabisheka of Gomanteshwara at Saravanabelagola, which was held in February this year.
All roads to T Narsasipur would be repaired at a cost of Rs 32 crore. Drinking water and other facilities, including shelters for the devotees would be made with the expenditure estimated at Rs 5.5 crore.
Necessary developmental works in and round the area would also be taken up pertaining to the occasion. The amount would be released immediately to take up works, he added.
Mr Kumaraswamy also announced that this year world famous Dasara festivities would be made more attractive to boost tourism in the state. A committee, headed by the district in charge minister D T Jayakumar and Mysore district Deputy Commissioner S Selvakumar, has been formed to chalk out the future plans to celebrate the Dasara festival in a grand manner.
Along with showcasing the traditional culture, these festivals also present the state's culural heritage before the tourists.
Referring to the opposition's criticisms over the development of the state during the completion of 100 days in office, Mr Kumaraswamy said if there was any points to be corrected by the government then that would definitely be taken up.
The government would also follow the result oriented programmes and moblise resources for this purpose from all fronts, he added.
On Cabinet expansion, he said it would be done at an appropriate time and did not elabroate further.
The Chief Minister, after laying the foundation stone for Rs 1.50 crore public works department guest house in Suttur and also Rs 4.49 crore road development here, said the government was committed to help the JSS Mahabidyapeetha which had been serving for the people for their upliftment particularly in rural areas.
