One killed, eight hurt in bus accident

Lakhimpur, May 13 (UNI) A girl was killed and eight others critically injured in a bus accident early today.

Police said the accident occurred about 12 km away from this town when a passenger bus coming from Guwahati skidded off the road.

The bus was trying to avoid running over a body on the road when it met with the accident. The body was later identified to be of some unknown lunatic woman, the police said.

One Jaya Patir (19) was killed on the spot while both the arms of one passenger and one arm of another was amputated in the accident.

The injured had been rushed to North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital.
