Now fight for ministry, quarter

Guwahati, May 13 (UNI) With the electoral fight over, the new battle for ministry and quarters have started in Asom.

While the 53 elected Congressmen are leaving no stone unturned to secure a post in the Ministry, their wives are hunting for a better quarter. Many first time MLAs have sent their wives to secure a good quarter even before that is allotted by the Assembly secretariat.

First time MLAs Rana Goswami and Ghana Burgaohan of Congress, have even put up their own name plate to already occupied quarters.

BJP MLA Ranjit Dutta have also shifted to new house near his old quarter. Everyone wants to make hay while the sun shines, for who knows what luck has in store for them in the future. At least half of the MLAs are first timers, desperate to get a quarter or a ministerial post.

The office of profit controversy has also made them insecure as the MLAs cannot become the chairman of any of the corporations.

Understandably, the MLAs has their eyes on the best MLA quarters of the Assembly hostel.
