Nemwang elected Speaker of the parliament
Kathmandu, May 13 (UNI) Subhash Nemwang of the CPN-UML was today unanimously elected Speaker of the Nepal's House of Representatives.
The seat of the Speaker was lying vacant following the resignation of Taranath Ranabhat, who was charged with supporting the King during his absolute rule.
Differences cropped up between the parties after the Nepali Congress (Democratic) of former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's party wanted deputy speaker Chitralekha Yadav to hold the post of Speaker.
However, the seven parties agreed to the name of Nemwang and he was elected unanimously to the post in today's meeting of the house.
Nemwang, a former minister, is a lawyer by profession and has worked as a central committee member of the CPN-UML party for the last few years.
The expansion of the cabinet will also done be very soon, according to the leaders of the alliance.
There are only seven members in the cabinet at present.
