Ensure women get benefits of welfare schemes: CM

Bhopal, May 13 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today urged the women flok to rise above politics and work towards their welfare by taking the benefits of the state government's schemes.

Mr Chouhan, while inaugurating the BJP Mahila Morcha's two-day state executive meet here, said politics was not a business but a mission for social service for the party.

Referring to the state government's schemes for women welfare, he said 10,000 girls would be married under the 'Kanyadan' scheme by the end of this year. Economic condition would not be allowed to restrain a girl's marriage, he added.

Mr Chouhan said results of the 'Prasav Parivahan Yojana' in curbing MMR and IMR has been positive. Under the scheme, women are provided Rs 1,000 immediately after delivery for nutritious food.

He said the materials produced by women Self Help Groups (SHGs) were being exported, while 'Gaon ki Beti' and other schemes were aimed at empowering women in every field.

BJP Mahila Morcha state incharge Mohini Garg said female feticide has witnessed a significant drop in the BJP-ruled states.

She said the Morcha would take effective steps in removing gender divide besides curbing population rise.
