Congress stakes claim to form the govt

Pondicherry, May 13(UNI) The Congress today staked claim to form the next Government in the Union Territory of Pondicherry with the outside support of the alliance partners.

AICC Treasurer Motilal Vora, General Secretaries B K Hariprasad and V Narayansamy, Secretary Sudhakar Reddy and leaders of DMK, PMK and CPI, called on the Lt Governor M M Lakhera and staked the claim.

They also submitted the letter of support from the Congress members and also the letters expressing unconditional support by the alliance partners to the Lt Governor.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Lakhera said that he received the letter of support from 20 legislators for a Congress Government and the process of formation of the ministry has started.

The Congress would be invited to form the Government shortly, he added.
