Catholics Head deplores release of Hollywood movie
Kochi, May 13 (UNI) Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil, the head of Catholics in Kerala expressed apprehensions over the scheduled release of the Hollywood Da Vinci Code' based on the bestselling novel by dan brown.
In a statement here, the Cardinal yesterday said it was highly deplorable that such a film was to be screened which disregarded the feelings of millions of people.
He said the novel, a figment of imagination was trying to destort history and malign Jesus Christ, and his message.
The Major Archbishop appealed to the Christians not to get agitated and pray that it was not permitted to be screened publically in the country.
India's secularism positively respects all religions without showing undue favour to any particular religion,'' he said while taking strong exception to the movie and refuting the claims put forward in the novel.
