Vasundhara Raje meets Israeli Dy
Tel Aviv, May 12 (UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje called on Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Teijpi Livni and held discussion on mutual cooperation relating to farming in arid and semi-arid areas.
Ms Raje, who is part of an Indian delegation headed by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, also visited the Rivivim Kibbutz Sea Bream and Barmundi Fish farms here yesterday.
The Rivivim Kibbutz, located in southern Israel and set up in 1943, is a perfect example of desert farming.
Ms Raje enquired from the experts about crops produced under low water availability and different techniques of irrigation.
She also visit to a modern green house where vegetables like sweet cherry, tomato capsicum and flowers like salicornia and peons are being grown.
At Barmundi Fish Farm, she sought information about fish breeding, reproduction of hybrids, natural collection, construction of artificial ponds and the prospects of commercial breeding of decorative species.
