Three injured in CPI(M)-CPI clash
Medinipur, May 12 (UNI) At least three persons were injured in a clash between CPI(M) and CPI activists in Mysora village under Panskura police station.
East Medinipur district's Superintendent of Police Ashok Dutta said the clash occurred when CPI(M) supporters took out a procession to celebrate the victory of its candidate of Nandanpur constituency.
Sources said some CPI members tried to create a road blockade by putting motor cycles and cycles on the path of the procession.
CPI(M) activists immediately removed the vehicles and threw them into a roadside tank. This was a sequel to an old quarrel between the two parties, the SP said.
A big contingent of police was rushed to the area to prevent any untoward incident. However, none was arrested so far. This was the first reported clash since the election results were declared yesterday.
