Special Pota Court awards 10 yrs RI to five in serial blast case

Ahmedabad, May 12 (UNI) Special Pota Court judge Sonia Gokani today sentenced five accused in the post-Godhra serial-blast case to 10 years' Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and fined them with Rs 27,500 each.

The accused were involved in serial blast cases in AMTS city buses at Kalupur, Kagdapith, Satellite and Vejalpur areas in May 2002.

The five people are Maulvi Ahmed Allarakha, Hanif alias Thaliwala, Kalim Ahmed alias Karim, Anas Abdul Rashid Machiswala and Mohd Habib Mohd Shafi Hawawala.

The judge however, acquitted 12 others for lack of evidence.
