Nemwang of CPN,UML to be the Speaker of Nepali parliament
Kathmandu, May 12 (UNI) Subash Nemwang of the CPN, UML is to be the new Speaker of the House of Representatives as the seven party alliance agreed to his name today.
There was differences over the election of the Speaker as the NC Democratic Party of the former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba wanted the Deputy Speaker Chitra Lekha Yadav to be the new Speaker.
However, the major partners of the coalition of the seven parties the Nepali Congress and the CPN, UML agreed in the name of Nemwang, who is a lawyer and leader of the CPN, UML.
The post of the Speaker remained vacant since the Speaker Tara Nath Ranabhat of the Nepali Congress resigned after the reinstatement of the House last month.
Ranabhat was accused of being close to the King and passive in the anti-king movement that forced King Gyanendra to give up absolute rule and reinstate the House.
The election of the speaker will be held tomorrow at the House, leader of the alliance said.
