More than 2,500 buildings in Capital not following fire safety rules
New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken today said more than 2,500 highrise buildings in the Capital did not follow prescribed fire-safety rules.
In reply to a question, the minister told the Lok Sabha that the Delhi Fire Service in its survey had found 2,506 buildings not adopting fire-safety measures as stated by law.
These buildings included schools, the minister added.
He also informed the House that the fire department had already issued 'show cause notices' against such buildings as a first step towards oredering disconnection of essential services, like water and electricity, in case of non-compliance.
