Chennai, May 12 (UNI) Outgoing Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today said that the minority government headed by the DMK would not last long.

Talking to mediapersons after addressing the party's newly elected members at the party headquarters here, Ms Jayalalithaa expressed doubts that the government would last atleast for a year.

''Let us see whether the government lasts for one year,'' was her sarcastic reply when asked how she saw her party down one year while being in the opposition.

She said even when the DMK formed government on its own with single party majority, it had failed to implement the schemes and programmes. ''Now how will a minority government implement the schemes..the government will not last long,'' she claimed.

Answering a question, Ms Jayalaithaa said it was not a set back or debacle for the AIADMK as it had won 61 seats in the May eight assembly elections.

She replied in the negative when asked whether the outcome of the elections signalled the end to single party rule. ''Certainly not.

The future belonged to the AIADMK...the DMK has no future..you cannot wish away the AIADMK,'' she said.
