Written by: Staff

Imphal, May 12 (UNI) The indefinite cease work strike, by Manipur government employees, demanding a pay hike, entered the 23rd day today.

The strikers, spearheaded by Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Government Employees Organisation (AMGEC), also demanded extension of retirement age to 60 from existing 58.

They also demanded regularisation of all adhoc employees and appealed to those working in the education department, secretariat and essential services to join the agitation and force the government to concede the demands.

The JAC spokespersons today claimed the ceasework has paralysed functioning in most of the government establishments.

Meanwhile, employees of the family welfare department continued their stir demanding regular payment of salaries. Due to the stir, the vaccination programme, child care units and some other important health facilities were badly affected.
