Man sentenced to 7 years' imprisonment for raping 4-yr-old

Sambalpur, May 12 (UNI) A local court today sentenced one Trinath Bhoi to seven years' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5000 on charges of raping a minor girl.

According to the prosecution, Bhoi, who runs a grocery shop, lured a four-year-old girl by offering her a chocolate and raped her inside his shop on April 9 last.

He was arrested by the Jharsuguda police the same day on a complaint by the girl's parents and forwarded to court. The girl was recovered by the police in a very critical condition from Bhoi's shop.

Considering the gravity of the case,the police framed the chargesheet against Bhoi within a record 15 days. The case was also disposed of by the court within a fortnight.
