Srinagar, May 12 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet today sanctioned raising of two battalions of the Indian Reserve Police (IRP) in the state as per the approved pattern and structure of the Union Home Ministry.

The Cabinet, which met here with Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the chair, approved the raising of 11th and 12th IRP battalions.

It also accorded sanction to the implementation of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyuti Karan Yojna (RGGVY) for rural electricity infrastructure development and household electrification in Jammu and Kashmir.

The scheme will cover all un-electrified and de-electrified villages and habitations and also support the electrification programme in the already electrified villages.
