Srinagar, May 12 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet today revoked the suspension of senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Ajit Kumar with effect from February 27 this year.

The Cabinet, which met here with Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the chair, accorded sanction to the revocation of Mr Kumar's suspension.

He was suspended by the government following allegations of his involvement in the jute-matting purchase scandal.

The period of suspension of Mr Kumar would be decided after the Centre conveyed its decision on the proposal of the state government for sanction of prosecution in the case being investigated by the state Vigilance Organisation.
