HC directs ASI to assess valuation of gold coins
Kolkata, May 12 (UNI) Calcutta High Court today directed Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to assess the valuation of the century-old gold coins found in M P Birla's house.
The ancient gold coins were found in Mr Birla's house in South Kolkata by the court's special officers recently.
Justice Kalyanjyoti Sengupta passed the order on a petition filed by auditor R S Lodha, praying for assessment of the coins' value.
According to Fox&Mondal, the Solicitors of Mr Lodha, nearly 300 gold coins were found dating back to the Maurya and Mughal period.
The coins are now deposited in a national bank.
