Fire in army furniture depot at Khasa

Amritsar, May 12 (UNI) Timely action by the army prevented a major fire from breaking out at a furniture depot in the Khasa cantonment near here today.

A army spokesman, while ruling out sabotage, said that reason of the fire was yet to be established.

The spokesman said that the fire was controlled before it could engulf the entire depot and the loss was limited to a few thousand rupees. Fire tenders from the army reached the spot in time and controled the raging flames.

The spokesman said that the furniture stored in the depot was saved from being gutted. A few secondary items in the depot were destroyed, the spokesman added.
