Big B promises more film shootings in UP
Lucknow, May 12 (UNI) Superstar Amitabh Bachchan today promised more film shootings in Uttar Pradesh, even as UP Development Council (UPDC) chairman Amar Singh cited several problems in the way of a comfortable atmosphere to make films in the State.
To a poser, Mr Bachchan said if the script allowed him, he would want more films to be shot in UP.
''In fact, I also keep requesting Abhishek to choose more locales in the state...there are certain scripts which demand shooting elsewhere. But if the script allows, I would try to get more films shot in UP,'' he said.
Mr Bachchan claimed that besides the box office hit 'Bunty aur Bubli', the remake of 'Umrao Jaan' was another film being shot in UP, directed by Muzzaffar Ali, who also hails from the State.
The millennium star was here to attend the meeting of the UPDC.
Talking to reporters, UPDC chairman and Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh said while 'Bunty aur Bubli' was shot extensively in Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur and Agra, the film crew faced several problems.
''Certain journalists too wanted their families to watch the shooting...the film crew of 'Water' was unable to shoot in Varanasi.
We all have to work towards ensuring that shooting a film in UP does not become a problem,'' he maintained.
This was Big B's first public appearance in UP after being discharged from hospital earlier this year.
