Bagmati damages crops,snaps road communication in Bihar
Muzaffarpur, May 12 (UNI) Standing crops in dozens of villages of this district were inundated following a sudden rise in the water level of the Bagmati river.
District Magistrate Vinay Kumar said here today that road communication to several villages had been snapped as water was flowing on different link and main roads.
''Benipur, Janarh, Basant, Matihani, Ghanshyampur, Klyanpur, Dahrharwa, Hanswara, Madhubanveshi, Baijnathveshi and other villages are badly affected due to the untimely floods in the Bagmati,'' he said.
Returning Officer cum Block Development Officer Ganesh Kumar said in view of the Panchayat elections, the administration was alert and closely watching the situation as the water level was rising in Bagmati. A crack had developed near the embankment of the river in Benipur, he said.
Mr Kumar said the untimely floods might hamper the panchayat elections in the affected blocks.
