Three heads roll, but juggernaut of LF Ministers rolls on
Kolkata, May 11 (UNI) The red revolution continued unabated in West Bengal even as three Ministers failed to retain their seats in the Assembly polls.
Whether it was North or South of the state or its capital Kolkata, all the 32 but three monarchs of the red bastion held sway over their fiefdom.
Labour Minister Md Amin of the CPI(M) licked dust from Gardenreach Assembly constituency, while Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prabodh Chandra Sinha of the DSP and Relief Minister Hafiz Alam Sairani of the Forward Bloc ate humble pie from Egra and Goalpokhar Assembly seats respectively.
While Forest Minister Jogesh Burman of the CPI(M) won from Falakata Assembly constituency in Jalpaiguri district, Municipal Affairs and Urban Development Minister Asok Bhattacharyya of the CPI(M) romped home from Siliguri Assembly constituency in Darjeeling district.
Civil Defence Minister Srikumar Mookherjee of the CPI won from Itahar Assembly constituency in North Dinajpore district, while Jail Minister Biswanath Chaudhury of the RSP emerged winner from Balurghat Assembly constituency in South Dinajpore district.
Animal Resources Development Minister Anisur Rahaman Sirkar of the CPI(M) won from Domkal Assembly constituency in Murshidabad district, while Minister of State Nayan Sirkar of the CPI(M) returned with flying colours from Hanskhali (SC) Assembly constituency in Nadia district.
While Sports, Transport and Youth Affairs Minister Subhas Chakravarty of the CPI(M) snuffed out all the challenges from his Man-Friday Sujit Bose from Belgachia East Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district, PWD Minister Amar Chaudhury of the RSP somehow managed to retain the Baranagar Assembly seat in North 24 Parganas district.
Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta of the CPI(M) won from Khardaha Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district, while Housing Minister Goutam Deb of the CPI(M) won from Hasnabad Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district.
Land and Land Reforms Minister Abdur Rezzak Molla of the CPI(M) won from Canning East Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district, while Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee of the CPI(M) emerged winner from Jadavpore Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district by a huge margin.
Sunderbans Development Minister Kanti Ganguly of the CPI(M) won from Mathurapur Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district, while Minister of State For Irrigation Subhas Naskar of the RSP emerged victorious from Basanti Assembly constituency in the same district.
