Seven Ministers lose election in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, May 11 (UNI) As many as seven ministers in the outgoing Oommen Chandy government were defeated in the Kerala Assembly elections, the results of which were announced today.
Ms K R Gouri (Aroor), Mr Dominic Presentation (Palluruthy), Mr A Sujanapal (Kozhikode-one), Mr E T Mohammed Basheer (Tirur), Dr M K Muneer (Mankada), Mr Babu Divakaran (Kollam), Mr M V Raghavan (Punalur) were the ministers who lost the elections.
However, Mr Chandy and his other cabinet colleagues Aryadan Mohammed (Nilambur), Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan (Adoor), K C Venugopal (Alappuzha), A P Anil Kumar (Wandoor), K M Mani (Pala), C F Thomas (Changanassery), V K Ebrahim Kunju (Mattancherry) and Kutty Ahmed Kutty (Thirurangadi), N Saktan (Nemom) and Adoor Prakash (Konni) survived the LDF sweep.
Finance Minister Vakkom Purushothaman did not contest the elections as he had announced his retirement from active politics.
While outgoing Assembly Speaker Therambil Ramakrishnan won the election from his home constituency of Thrissur, Deputy Speaker N Sundaran Nadar was defeated in Parassala.
