Salem's judicial custody extended till June 16

Mumbai, May 11: Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court today extended the judicial custody of extradited gangster Abu Salem till June 16 in connection with the murder of Ajit Dewani, former secretary of actress Manisha Koirala.

Abu Salem was produced before the MCOCA Judge Abhay Thipsay during the day for extension of his remand.

Salem, who was already chargesheeted by the Mumbai police in this case, had also confessed his role in the murder, but later retracted his statement saying it was taken under pressure.

Ajit Dewani murder case was one of the two cases probed by the Crime Branch, on the basis of which Salem was extradited from Portugal, while the other was the Pradeep Jain murder case.
