Prepare infrastructure for trade through Muzaffarabad : Azad
Srinagar, May 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today advised the administration to work for creating and installing all types of infrastructure on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road before it is formally opened for trade.
He also asked the departments concerned to clear all the decks and be prepared in every respect by June 10, 2006 to put through Poonch-Rawlakote road by June 19, 2006.
He said the historic decision of opening this road for traffic taken by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government after fruitful interaction with the Pak authorities would provide yet another avenue of travelling for the people across the LoC and catapult peace and confidence building process.
The Chief Minister was reviewing arrangments for the proposed opening of the road at a high level meeting here.
He advised for establishing customs and emigration complex at Chakund-Abad Poonch and make the same operational on June 10, 2006 with adequate staff and modern customs and emigration facilities.
Mr Azad said that representatives of chamber of commerce and other trade groups of the both sides are meeting very soon to chalk out technicalities with regard to loading and un-loading of goods, entry methods, procedure for customs for levying of customs on various items and other import and export procedures through this route.
