Nine killed, one injured in accident

Osmanabad, Maharashtra, May 11 (UNI) Nine people, including four members of a family, were killed on the spot while an eight-year old girl sustained injuries when the jeep in which they were travelling collided head on with a truck at Mauje Dalim Shivar about 80 km from Osmanabad this morning.

According to Assistant Sub-Inspector D M Suravase, all the victims, including the jeep driver, died on the spot. The girl is stated to be in critical condition.

Mr Suravase said that four members of the Gurav family, accompanied by their friends, were coming to Gulbarga from Solapur when they met with the accident.

The deceased were identified as Umakanat Gurav(35), Shoba Umakant Gurav (30), Sagar Umakant Gurav (12), Abhishek Umakant Gurav(5), Ramdas Babu Itkar(30), Yakub Mohammad Ghous (36), Devidas Laxman Mane (45), Kesherbai Devidas Mane (36) and Sanjay Gulab Daskar(35).

The bodies have been shifted to Yenegur civil hospital for postmortem, Mr Suravase said.

The Murum police has registered an offence against the truck driver for negligent driving.
