Manavjit 6th on day 1 of qualification round, in hunt for finals

New Delhi, May 11 (UNI) Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Manavjit Singh Sandhu kept alive his hope for a final berth, shooting 48 for the sixth place on day one of the qualification rounds in the men's Trap event at the ongoing World Cup at Kerrville, the US.

Manavjit shot 24, 24 to total 48, while Anwer Sultan shot a score of 43 (21,22) for the 50th place while Birendeep Sodhi shot 41 (22,19) to be placed 64th.

The leader in the event is Jesus Serrano of Spain with a score of 49, just a point more than Manavjit, according to information received here today.

The top three shooters of day one are on a score of 49 while five shooters, including Manavjit are on 48. There are three more rounds of 25 targets still to go after which the top six shooters will make it to the finals.
