Jawan sacrificed, two ultras among five killed in Jammu region

Jammu, May 11 (UNI) Four people including two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen and Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in encounters with security forces while a jawan sacrificed his life in the operation in Jammu region today.

Former special police officer (SPO) and active member of HM Irshad Ahmed alias Abu Khasha was gunned down by security forces at Nowa Patchi Marwah on Hanzal-Dehrana route under Marwah police station in Doda district In another incident, militants kidnapped two people's Waris Hussain Shah and Nazir Hussain Shah, at Bitara under Gursai police station in Poonch district last night.

They killed Waris and his body was recovered today. Nazir was found injured unconscious.

Militant fired at house of village defence committee member (VDC) Mohammad Farooq at Dhandli village under Mahore police station in Udhampur district. The fire was retaliated by VDC member and during the ensuing gunbattle, Farooq's wife Dilshad Begum (22) was injured and later died.

The Army launched a joint operation with the state police to nab the militants.
