Indian relay team to be selected at Asian Grand Prix meet
Pune, May 11 (UNI) The Indian men and women 4 x100 M relay quartets for the Doha Asian Games will be selected at the Asian Grand Prix meet to be held at the newly laid synthetic track of the Pune Muncipal Corporation (PMC) at the Baburao Sanas Ground here on May 26.
''The civic body is all geared up to have the most modern facilities in the complex, for hosting of the Asian Grand Prix,'' PMC Commissioner Dr Nitin Kareer said.
The complex will be formally inaugurated in the Asian Grand Prix meeting Dr Kareer said after witnessing the activity at the Sanas complex here today.
Athletic Federation of India (AFI) joint secretary Pralhad Sawant who is also heading the organising committee said that a total of 130 athletes from 21 countries along with fifty technical officials would be taking part in the one day meet.
A total prize money of Rs 50,000 will be at stake in the meet featuring a total of 18 events in the men and the women's sections.
Mr Sawant added.
