HC directs Principal Secretary Nagar Vikas to appear in person
Allahabad, May 11 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court has directed the Principal Secretary of Nagar Vikas to appear in person on May 22 and inform the court of the government's stand or the action taken to check the use of polythene and poisonous chemicals in edibles and vegetables, posing a public health hazard.
A division bench comprising Justice A K Yog and Justice Prakash Krishna passed this order in response to a PIL filed by Anand Mohan.
They also directed that all constructions over public ponds and tanks in the city must be stopped forthwith.
The court directed Allahabad Development Authority and Nagar Nigam to restore the ponds and tanks as per report submitted by Nagar Ayukta K D Singh. The court also directed the authorities to ensure the proper maintenance of parks in the city.
The court asked the chief standing counsel, C B Yadav to hold meeting of concerned officials, regarding the removal of encroachment in civil lines.
''We leave it open to the district administration and concerned local bodies to take steps as may be warranted in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions. Our order to remove obstructions from roadside or road land should not be misunderstood or mixed with the action to be taken with respect to the violation of the master plan,'' the court observed.
