Both Houses of Parliament adjourned for the day
New Delhi, May 11: The BJP-led opposition today created pandemonium in Parliament demanding immediate introduction of a Bill to stop the demolition drive in the capital and forcing the adjournment of both Houses for the day virtually without transacting any business.
Slogan shouting opposition members forced two adjournments of the Lok Sabha till 1130 hrs and 1200 hrs during question hour before the third adjournment for the day shortly after the papers listed for the day were tabled in the House.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned twice, the first time till 1200 hrs shortly after it had assembled for the day's proceedings at 1100 hrs and the second time for the day immediately after the House had reassembled.
The presiding officers of the Houses had apparently agreed not to take up any legislative business today as the Opposition had made it clear to the government that it would stall proceedings until the Bill on the demolition of illegal constructions was introduced.
Announcing the adjournment of the Lok Sabha for the day, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee expressed the hope that the House would witness ''business-like'' proceedings from tomorrow.
