Hyderabad, May 11 (UNI)Prasara Bharati CEO K S Sarma today said that All India Radio would be releasing three CDs of the 15th century saint composer Annamacharya on the occasion of his 598th birthday on May 13 at a function in Hyderabad.

While noted film music director Madhavapeddi Suresh composed music for two CDs, Bala Krishna Prasad composed it for the third in which he himself sang the songs. he added.

Mr Sharma said the AIR has earned a crore of rupees through sale of audio CDs during the past three years.

He said Prasara Bharati which released a DVD of Pandit Jasraj also has plans to release the DVDs of other maestros and the next being that of Pundit Shivakumar Sharma.

Mr Suresh said he has used only the ragas prescribed for the songs, but had composed music in a lighter way to reach out to even those who had no knowledge in classical music. ''It is a great fortune to have composed music for the CDs,'' he added.

Annamacharya lived in Tirupati and sang in praise of Lord Venkateswara. He is known to be the first Telugu poet and composer.

He is believed to have written 32,000 songs and only 1,000 survived the time, Sarma added.
