7 minors buried alive as mound caves in

Chandauli, May 11 (UNI) At least seven minors, including six girls, were choked to death and two others injured when a mound collapsed in Lohra area of the district this afternoon.

Police superintendent R K Chaturvedi told UNI that seven minors -- all children of labourers from Bihar working at a brick kiln in Rohna village under Mughalsarai police station area -- were buried alive when the mound they were digging said from caved in.

The victims belonged to three villages of Gaya district in Bihar.

The deceased were identified as Manish (6), Babita (11), both siblings, Rinku (12), Heyvati (13), Rati (12), Suganti (8) and Daulati (13).

Two girls Mamta (9) and Ranu (12), who were rescured alive, had been admitted to hospital.

All bodies had been sent for autopsy, while further details were awaited.
