10,000 school buildings to be constructed
Bhopal, May 11: The Madhya Pradesh government will embark upon a scheme to construct a record 10,301 school buildings this year and provide them to all the schools of the state .
Besides, 386 new middle schools would be opened this year, School Education Minister Narottam Mishra said today.
The state government made record allocation of Rs 1870 crore this year for elementary education which is 31 per cent higher than the previous year, Mr Mishra said.
During the construction of new school buildings, additional rooms would be constructed in 15,134 schools facing the problem of space shortage due to increased enrolment. Efforts were also being made to arrange libraries, lavatories, kitchen sheds and drinking water in all the schools, he added.
The School Education Minister said about 22,659 teachers would be recruited this year to ensure that every school had at least two teachers.
Under the action plan for the modernisation of Sanskrit schools and Madarasas, about 2.27 lakh students in 96 Sanskrit schools and 3,591 Madarasas would be provided text books free of cost. Besides, there would be provision for training the teachers and funds for meeting contingency.
