New Delhi, May 10 (UNI) Dubbing as "highly unfortunate" former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee's suggestion to dismantle the National Advisory Council, the CPI(M) said today that it did not behove a person of high political stature as that of the BJP senior leader.

" Mr Vajpayee's suggestion does not revolve round any political or ideological view point but because of the personality involved in it," CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and Rajya Sabha MP Sitaram Yechury told UNI.

Mr Vajpayee today demanded scrapping of the National Advisory Council, from whose Chairpersonship Congress chief Sonia Gandhi resigned following the Office-of-Profit controversy.

Mr Yechury claimed had Ms Sonia Gandhi not been the Chairperson of the NAC, Mr Vajpayee would not have thought about it.

Addressing a joint press conference, Mr Yechury said the Left parties had earlier made their position clear that they did not consider the Chairpersonship of NAC as an Office of Profit.
