Two Pak infiltrators and a teacher among 6 killed in J
Srinagar, May 10 (UNI) Two Pakistani infiltrators and a teacher were among six people killed while security forces busted a hideout and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said.
He said security forces noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) in Mankote sector last night. When challenged and asked to surrender, militants opened fire. Security forces also retaliated and in the fierce clash two infiltrators were killed. Two AK rifles, 10 magazines, 300 rounds of ammunition, 13 hand grenades, two wireless sets, 32 pencil cells and Rs ten thousand were recovered from the slain militant.
A Special Police Officer (SPO) Bilal Ahmad was killed when militants attacked guards posted at the residence of Mohammad Iqbal Harga at Tanta in Doda district of Jammu region last night.
Militants later managed to escape under the cover of darkness, he said.
In another similar incident unidentified gunmen shot dead a school teacher Munawar Ahmad Mir at Safakadal in the down town while one Mukhtar Ahmad Baba was killed at Chakpora in Anantnag last night.
The spokesman said militants attacked a search party of security forces at Mangota late last night. The latter also returned the fire and in the clash one Gouri Lal was killed and one soldier and a civilian were injured. Militants however managed to escape.
A woman Hamida Begum was wounded in a landmine blast at Hathlanga in Baramulla. She was hospitalised.
He said security forces busted a hidout and recovered two wireless sets, one UBGL grenades, three Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and three hand grenades at Thanamandi and Aral last night.
However, no one was arrested.
