Aurangabad, Maharashtra, May 10 (UNI) The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Mumbai police and Aurangabad Rural police arrested three terrorists, including an activist of the banned Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), and seized eleven AK-47 assault rifles, 800 bullets and 33 kg of RDX during a joint operation, near here, last night.

However, three accomplices of the SIMI activist, Mohammad Amer Shakeel Ahmed (27), managed to escape during the police chase, police sources said.

But police later picked up the owner and driver of the car in which three suspected terrorist accomplices of Ahmed had escaped.

Car owner Mujeeb Patel told police his cousin Muzaffar Ahmed had taken the his vehicle on the pretext of going to Beed to attend a marriage. The driver has been identified as Muzaffar Jamil Ahmed, the sources added.

Special Inspector General of police (ATS) Laxminarayan confirmed the arrests but refused to give details, saying it would hamper further investigation. '' We are taking the arrested terrorists to Mumbai,'' he said and added a hunt had been launched for the terrorists.
