TDP activist slain in Anantapur district in AP

Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, May 10 (UNI) Unidentified assailants today killed a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) functionary at Gummepally village here in the wee hours of today.

According to police the assailants slit his throat while he was asleep in his house. A case has been registered and efforts were on to nab the accused.

Aadi Reddy's brother is the Sarpanch of the village and the TDP alleged that the murder was engineered by the ruling Congress in view of the ensuing Panchayat elections.

TDP former MP and Politburo member Kalva Srinivasulu, denied any case of factionalism in the party in Gummepally village. He alleged that the ruling Congress had liquidated a powerful TDP leader. He demanded an explanation from the Chief Minister who had openly condemned factional violence in Anantapur district.
