Rupee opens six paise stronger at 44.87/89 per USD

Mumbai, May 10: The rupee opened stronger by six paise at 44.87/89 per US dollar as compared to the last close of 44.93/94, said a dealer in the forex market.

However, the rupee weakened in the mid-morning session trading at 44.91/92 per dollar.

The stock markets' benchmark index BSE Sensex crossed 12,600 mark this morning with a gain of 100 plus points and traded at 12,615 at 1140 hrs which was a good news for the rupee.

Also the crude oil prices at USD 70.62 per barrel was again on the higher side as compared to yesterday's rate and certainly rupee negative.
