Pradeep Hazarika shifted to AIIMS
Guwahati, May 10 (UNI) Former Asom minister Pradeep Hazarika, who sustained multiple bullet injuries in a suspected ULFA attack, was today shifted to AIIMS, Delhi, from Dibrugarh.
The AGP leader was shot along with one Debananda Gohain in the attack which took place near Amguri yesterday. They were taken to the Assam Medical College(AMC) in Dibrugarh soon after.
Two of the AGP leader's security personnel were killed and five others, including Debananda, injured.
Sources at the AMC said Mr Hazarika was out of danger. His shoulder joint had been broken and artificial disk might have to be installed, the sources added.
Debananda had sustained bullet injuries above the stomach.
Meanwhile, the AGP's local unit is observing a 12-hour Amguri bandh to protest the incident.
Mr Hazarika is the Asom Gana Parishad candidate from Amguri constituency in Sibsagar district.
Suspected ULFA militants had attacked his motorcycle convoy from very close range using automatic assault weapons.
