Metal prices go up on higher industrial demand

Mumbai, May 10 (UNI) Metal prices today rose on heavy industrial demand, traders at the metal exchange here said.

In ferrous section, the rates of copper utensils and copper heavy went up by Rs 700 and Rs 500 per quintal, respectively, while that of brass utensils, brass cutting and aluminium utensils increased by Rs 400, Rs 300 and Rs 200 per quintal, respectively, on increase of fresh demand.

In non-ferrous section, the rates of copper wire bars shot up by Rs 1,000 per quintal while that of zinc slab and lead ingots rose by Rs 200 each per quintal on higher advice.

Nickel cathode prices also went up by Rs six per kg, on better buying support.

Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy- Rs 39,000, copper utensils- Rs 35,000, brass utensils- Rs 24,200, brass cuttings- Rs 26,800 and aluminium utensils- Rs 11,200.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars- Rs 41,200, aluminium ingots- Rs 14,200, zinc slab- Rs 18,900, lead ingots- Rs 7,000, Tin slab- Rs 530 (per kg) and nickel cathode- Rs 1,001 (per kg).
