MCX index closes at 2,427.62 up 6.63 pts

Mumbai, May 10 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded a turnover of Rs 3,941.67 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at 2,427.62 up by 6.63 points (0.27 per cent).

The total trades registered were 56,377.

The MCX metal index closed at 2,914.71 down 5.12 points (-0.18 per cent), while its agri index was a gainer and closed at 1,693.32 up 32.39 points (1.91 per cent). MCX energy index was at 2,674.84 down by 7.35 points (-0.27 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 2,923.87 crore, including various MCX gold Rs 1,666 crore and MCX silver Rs 1,257.87 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 32,257. The open interest for gold was 9,678 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 2,91,065 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 373.02 crore with 7,809 trades, while MCX aluminium and zinc recorded a turnover of Rs 35.79 crore with 973 trades and Rs 146.15 crore with 1,725 trades respectively.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 62.18 crore with open interest of 8,17,700 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were as follows -- urad registered a turnover of Rs 11.63 crore with 302 trades, chana registered a turnover of Rs 47.34 crore with 1,236 trades, tur recorded a turnover of Rs 14.11 crore with 346 trades, and masur registered a turnover of Rs 12.16 crore with 550 trades.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 85.61 crore with 3,586 trades, while mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 27.87 crore with 1,376 trades.

MCX Gold June 06 closed at Rs 10,307 up by Rs 37 (0.36 per cent), while August closed at Rs 10,456 up by Rs 34 (0.33 per cent), and October closed at Rs 10,633 up by Rs 75 (0.71 per cent).

MCX Silver July 06 closed at Rs 21,909 down by Rs 85 (-0.39 per cent), September closed at Rs 22,425 down by Rs four (-0.02 per cent) and December closed at Rs 23,226 up by Rs 803 (3.46 per cent).
