MCD following "pick and choose" policy in demolition: BJP

New Delhi, May 10 (UNI) Coming down on the Congress Government in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for what it described as its inaction against the 31 "Big Fish" who had carried out unauthorised constructions in the Capital, the Opposition BJP today said the MCD was following a "pick and choose" policy vis-a-vis demolitions.

''No action has so far been taken on the unauthorised constructions by the "Big Fish" while as many as 2396 unauthorised structures, most of them belonging to the common man, have been demolished by the Corporation,''Leader of the Opposition in the MCD Subhash Arya told mediapersons at a joint press conference with MCD member Vijender Gupta.

He said the only politician against whom action had been taken was MLA Jai Bhagwan Goel, who was from the BJP. The MCD had begun demolition work on the house of the BJP MLA last week.

''Thus it is clear that the MCD is following a "pick and chose" policy in taking action against the unauthorised structures built by the "big Fish". That explains why, despite their names having been disclosed in an affidavit to the High court on January 30, no action has been taken in this regard till date,''Mr Gupta said.
